UPSCALE KNOWLEDGE DISSEMINATION
Towards further sustainable intensification of push-pull systems
As part of the effort to bring push-pull beyond its limitations to the next level, UPSCALE partner, Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology (JKUAT), conducted a needs assessment involving farmers and key informants involved in agriculture in Kisumu, Siaya and Vihiga counties in Kenya.

UPSCALE MAC Meeting in Kenya, November 2021
Following icipe’s Push-pull programme launch of the UPSCALE Multi-Actor Community (MAC) meetings in Kenya in May 2021 a second MAC was held on 5th of November. Through a transdisciplinary approach, the Multi-Actor Communities of practice (MACs) are building knowledge and Push-Pull innovations ‘from the ground up’ and across the value chain of agricultural products.

UPSCALE partner Maseno University (MU) from Kenya was represented by Dr. Frederick Aila who participated in presenting the progress of the UPSCALE and other MU project titled: “Addressing Global Food Security Challenges through Partnerships and Local Community Engagement.”

During World Food Day 2021 commemoration today, Ethiopia’s Federal Ministry of Agriculture, the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO), and the World Food Programme (WFP) called for renewed collective action as Ethiopia races to defeat hunger by 2030.
